Hi Reinvigorated into imaging after attending a weekend SPA course at Preston Montford FSC centre, Ive bought myself a Windows 10 laptop, but come up against a problem: Im trying to install the drivers for the OpticStar DS335C ICE camera. Ive got the latest drivers from OpticStar, but each time I. This happens sometimes, expecially if driver is in use and you run ASCOM driver setup in meantime. ASCOM closes program using it, but in some cases it still does not work. To install new version of driver, delete the following dll file: C: Program Files (x86) Common Files ASCOM Focuser ASCOM.DeepSkyDad.Focuser.dll and run installer again. Opticstar (Shoestring Distributor). Planex sound cards & media devices driver download for windows 10 32-bit. This may be provided with the product or made available as a separate download. Please see vendors website for details or check. It had drivers from FCLab(s) that only work under Windows XP as far as I know. The driver is available from the files section of the SACimaging Yahoo group. The only program that still seems to work with this camera is catch-42, which can be downloaded here.

PHD Guiding

PHD Guiding is designed to be 'Push Here Dummy' simple, yet provide powerful, intelligent auto-guiding of your telescope for both PCs and Macs. Connect your mount, your camera, select a star, and start guiding. That's it!

Despite actually having a Ph.D., I've always had a tough time figuring out which way North is in the guide frame, whether an axis is mirrored (and if so, which one), how that's affected by camera rotation, how many arcseconds per pixel I'm actually running at (especially since a '2x' barlow isn't always 2x), etc. This is especially tough when standing out in a cold field late at night when all you really want to do is stay warm and collect good images of your DSO.
In PHD Guiding, all calibration is taken care of automatically. You do not need to tell it anything about the orientation of your camera, nor do you need to tell it anything about the image scale. The automatic calibration routine takes care of this for you. Odds are you won't ever need to set a single parameter. Just select your star and hit 'PHD Guide' and let the software take care of it.

Two developers have already stepped up to help out. Bret McKee did a major refactoring of the mount code and other internals and Jared Wellman has added new scripting bits. 2014: PHD2!
In 2013, Bret McKee and I started working on a complete rewrite of the open-source PHD code with the aim of setting things up for significant expansion of PHD and of the development team working on PHD. Bret really dove in and did a massive amount of work. He also built up the team that has now gotten PHD2 going. In all of this, the vision of PHD has remained - to be user-friendly, yet provide powerful guiding. I'm delighted to see that this has reached such a mature stage and that it's done so with very little of my direct effort. This is a fully open, team project and it's a real joy to see that it has taken off so well. I will continue to host PHD1 here until all have happily moved over to PHD2.

The results are in from the 2007 AstroPhoto Insight survey run by SkyInsight and in the category of Guiding Software, there was a stand-out winner - PHD Guiding. Out of over 700 votes, PHD Guiding came in #1, beating the second most popular piece of software, the de facto standard Maxim DL, by over 50%. In fact, it did better than ACP, Astro IIDC, Equinox, Guide Dog, GuideMaster, K3CCDTools, Maxim Essentials, Maxim DSLR, and Meade Envisage.. combined! I knew many people used PHD Guiding, but to say I was stunned at these results is an understatement on a grand scale. I wrote PHD Guiding to take the hassle out of accurate autoguiding and I give it away free as a way to help pay back the amateur community I've gotten so much from. With results like these, it's clear PHD Guiding has helped a lot of amateurs enjoy the hobby more and take better shots. Thank you all for helping make PHD Guiding what it is today.
